In observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom Hashoah, the Jewish Federation of New Hampshire is hosting a special performance of “Piano Quartet on Themes from Kaddish,” by New Hampshire composer Dr. Lawrence Siegel. The piece will be performed at the Federation at 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 14th, 2008, by Eric Stumacher and the Apple Hill Chamber Players.
The Piano Quartet will serve as an introduction to the larger musical work, Kaddish, commissioned by the Cohen Center for Holocaust Studies at Keene State College, Keene, NH to commemorate its 25th anniversary.
For the past two years, Larry Siegel and Executive Producer Jan Cohen have been laying the groundwork for this unique project through interviews and research in the United States and Eastern Europe. The collection of testimonies of Holocaust survivors and witnesses continues to grow. Using the verbatim approach, literally word-for- word, Larry Siegel has woven together these individuals’ words to create a powerful, cohesive story which culminates in a message of hope, peace, justice and action.
