How to Get From Raw Idea to Book Contract Arnold Dolin, Sandi Gelles-Cole, David Groff, Nancy Nicholas / Nan Gatewood Satter, moderator Four publishing professionals illuminate the journey fiction and non-fiction writers take from initial idea to finished manuscript to signed contract.
Experts from the Consulting Editors Alliance discuss what makes a story salable, what constitutes a good proposal, when to seek the help of a professional editor and how to get an agent. Arnold Dolin directs the Editing Workshop of the Denver University Publishing Institute and has worked with Phyllis Chesler, Martin Duberman, Erica Jong and August Wilson. Sandi Gelles-Cole, the founder of Gelles-Cole Literary Enterprises, works with fiction and nonfiction writers, among them Alan Dershowitz and Victoria Gotti. David Groff, a writer and poet, specializes in editing fiction and nonfiction narratives. Nancy Nicholas edits literary and popular fiction. Nan Gatewood Satter leads a series of popular writing workshops in the Hudson Valley.
