Hermanas (Sisters)

The May 4th Movement

The response of Peking University's faculty and students to the betrayal of China by the framers of the Versailles Treaty helped redefine China's culture as a part of the modern world. It produced a sharp turn towards scientific and democratic values, nationalism, women’s rights and literacy. It also sparked the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1921.
