Balkan Tales and Yasna Voices

Tue 6 Feb. Steinhardt Building, 35 West 67th Street, New York, 10023. Gregor Ehrlich, 212-601-1000, gehrlich@92ndsty.org. Makor - [events]

Led by Vlada Tomova, Balkan Tales weaves traditional songs into a contemporary acoustic sound, mixing old world flavor with the zest of a modern metropolis. From intimate duos to exhilarating group playing, they bring an array of textures and moods, blending fiery vocals, mournful taqasims, driving percussion, and complex harmonies.

Yasna Voices (Yasna means 'clear' in Bulgarian) is a Brooklyn-based, all female vocal ensemble, specializing in village-style and arranged Bulgarian Folk music. The group's mission is to introduce audiences to this rich vocal tradition and, through the power of vocal harmony, to inspire, heal and unite.

Tickets are $12 advance; $15 at the door
