January 20 As part of the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival, we are pleased to bring back HotHouse, one of the documentary selections from this past November's 19th Annual Boston Jewish Film Festival. Almost ten thousand Palestinians are held prisoner in what one Fatah leader calls de facto “universities of Palestinian nationalism.” Granted rare permission to record life in Israel’s highest-security facilities, documentary filmmaker Shimon Dotan explores this chilling and fascinating phenomenon through interviews with Israeli prison guards, leaders of Hamas and Fatah, a female suicide bomber, and others.
