Berlin, Germany's capital city has a turbulent past. Berlin was successively the capital of the Kingdom of Prussia (1701-1918), the German Empire (1871-1918), the Weimar Republic (1919-1933) and the Third Reich(1933-1945). After World War II until the reunification in 1990 the city was divided into East and West Berlin by the Berlin wall. A lot has changed in Berlin since then, most of the city has been rebuilt or restored and there is some fascinating architecture, both old and new, standing side by side. Almost no other metropolis has experienced such frequent, radical change transforming the face of the city to what it is today.

Prague is the Czech Republic's capital and its international show piece. From magnificent Prague Castle to Wenceslas Square in the heart of the city, Prague rewards visitors with a diverse range of attractions, most situated within walking distance of each other.
