As a means of illuminating America's racial and ethnic past, this lecture examines and compares an iconic baseball triumvirate: Hank Greenberg, Joe DiMaggio & Jackie Robinson. Prior to the sports' travails of recent years, baseball lonng reigned as the undisputed 'national pastime.' This talk, given by Dr. William Simons, Professor of History at SUNY Oneonta & Managing Director of the Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture, will look at the games' golden age.
