Slosberg Music Center 8 p.m. (preconcert reception, 7 p.m.) Experience Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble, Boston’s premier contemporary music group, passionately dedicated to presenting the finest music by living composers under the artistic direction of Sue-Ellen Hershman-Tcherepnin and Brandeis faculty member Yu-Hui Chang. The all-premiere program includes "Wick" by Pulitzer Prize winner Melinda Wagner; Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez's "Trio-Variations,” inspired by Paul Klee's "twittering machines”; the kaleidoscopic "Little Bits" by Stacy Garrop, Keeril Makan's explosive "2,", and Andrew Waggoner's Katrina-related "Soon, the Rosy-Fingered Dawn." Thu 7 Oct, 6-8 pm. Two distinct exhibitions from the collection of the Rose Art Museum On October 7th at 6:00 PM the Rose Art Museum will open two distinct exhibitions. "WaterWays," an exhibit exploring art that utilizes water as subject, metaphor and muse, will be mounted in the Rose, Fineberg and Lee Galleries. Mandel Humanities Center Reading Room Michael Klein reads from his new collection "then, we were still living" of which Nick Flynn wrote, "In these roughly whispered poems, Klein somehow—miraculously—manages to evoke a past of empty suitcases, of ghosts, while being fully present in the moment, in the now." Klein is the author of two memoirs, "Track Conditions"about himself and the 1984 Kentucky Derby winner, and "The End of Being Known," linked essays about sex and friendship.
