Every Day Lasts a Year with author Rich Hollander Every Day Lasts a Year is a Holocaust story that starts on October 22, 1986, more than 40 years after the defeat of Nazi Germany, the day that Joseph and Vita Hollander were killed in an automobile accident. Shortly after their tragic deaths, their son, Richard Hollander, was cleaning out his parents' attic when he stumbled across a briefcase. To his astonishment, the briefcase was jammed with letters stamped with swastikas and Nazi stamps. The letters, written in Polish and German, were sent from Nazi occupied Krakow , Poland , between the fall of 1939 and the winter of 1942, to Joseph Hollander in the United States. The writers were Joseph's mother, three sisters, their spouses, and children. In the word. 15 Lloyd Street, Baltimore. Lauren Silberman, 410-732-6400 ext. 29, info@jewishmuseummd.org.
