A documentary about the life and art of the Russian Avant-Garde painter, Sofia Dymshitz-Tolstaya (1886-1963), known familiarly as Sonia . Born into a wealthy, Jewish, merchant family in St. Petersburg, Russia, Sonia inspired early on by the promise of the Russian Revolutions of 1905 and 1917, risked everything to make a larger life for herself and others.
