Author Larry Tye, whose diverse novel topics have ranged from examining the Jewish Diaspora to baseball great Satchel Paige, will speak at the J Tuesday, May 18 at noon.
Larry will be coming down from Boston to visit Birmingham May 17-19 to promote his latest best-selling book Satchel: The Life and Times of an American Legend. His book Homelands: Portraits of the New Jewish Diaspora came out in 2001. Other books focus on the healing power of electroconvulsive therapy; the railroad and the rise in the African-American middle class, as well as the "birth of spin/public relations."
Early in his career, the Jewish author covered business and government for The Anniston Star newspaper. He served as a journalist at The Boston Globe from 1986 until 2001.
