Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.

This length of the upper Santa Fe River can be an adventure since there can be more than a few trees blocking the way. However, the scenery is spectacular, and we should see some wildlife.
RSVPs are required since we need to organize the boats. Let us know if you have a kayak or canoe or any extra boats you would be willing to let others borrow. If you do not have one, we will try to get something for you.

Author John Capouya draws on extensive interviews with surviving musicians to re-create the excitement and honor the achievements of soul’s golden age, establishing Florida as one of the great soul music capitals of the United States. His book, Florida Soul: From Ray Charles to KC and the Sunshine Band, explores the story of Ray Charles’s musical upbringing in Florida, highlights the careers of Pensacola singers James and Bobby Purify and their producer, Papa Don Schroeder, reveals how Hank Ballard created his international hit song “The Twist” after seeing the dance in Tampa, and profiles Gainesville singer Linda Lyndell ("What a Man"), to name a few.
