ZEMOG, El Gallo Bueno / Mofongo / DJ Philharmonic

Sat 27 Jan, 8 pm. The band's name is "Gomez" backward and "The Good Rooster" in Spanish. If Dylan was Puertorican and Sun Ra was his college roommate, a Psychedelic-infused jam session might have produced Zemog, el Gallo Bueno. Politico-Weirdo latin music. Dense rhythmic structures, avant brass and reed solos, vocals, and unpredictable arrangements create provocative, exciting music. The music of Mofongo draws sounds from field recordings, to the inner creaks of paper towel rolls, or the subliminal textures of white noise. Sounds unravel as an emergence, a projectile with infinite projections, each sounding a different call. Mofongo is full of beats syncopated like an eight armed drummer and textures that ride a subconscious bed to lie in. Date & Time: Sat, Jan 27, 2007, 8.
